Bootleg Doll Review : Bootleg 12" Anna from Frozen Doll

YAY! MOM IS BACK WITH THE CAMERA!!!! ^^

Here's my room, filled with her stuff...she got lots of things from her vacation...

Originally I just asked for seashells, she got me a sewing machine!AWESOME!!!!*
*she also gave me separate seashells! Yay!!!! ^^

3 or so months ago, before I got the fake Snow White doll ,I was really anxious for an Anna doll to accompany my Elsa .At first I thought that the bootleg Anna doll wasn't going to be made since elsa is more popular than anna, elsa sells better. A week after that incident though,I tried visiting the store that carried the fake elsa doll that I bought. I was surprised to know when the guy at the store told me that his frozen dolls were out of stock, which was cool to me since I know Im not the only one who has that doll :P.Anyways,I asked the guy if they had a red haired frozen doll,as expected,he said they don't,he did tell me though to come back next month since he always restocks monthly.Another 2 weeks passed,I received money from my visiting aunt,so I decided to go to the market place since that was where I got 3 of my knock-off dolls. And to my surprise,I saw lots of elsa dolls in a few stores. There was even an elsa head in a pale Bratz body (that had tiny feet)! In one of the stores,I actually searched the pile of elsa dolls, looking for anna. After a few sweaty minutes of scavenging in the store,I found ANNA!

It was like finding a needle in a haystack! The person in the store told me that they didn't know that they still had anna,so lucky me for finding the final anna in the store! She was supposedly going for 180 php,but I asked if the price can be lowered and they offered me Anna for 160 php.I had to take it though, since she was the last one, and I was TOO excited to get an anna.

Now lets go back to  May 15 2014.My father and I made a quick stop to Divisoria ,a place that's filled with bootlegs!(and thieves!!!).Now here's the deal with Divisoria,it's actually a place(I think it's a city? IDK) where you can buy stuff that's direct from china, meaning the prices are CHEAP! 90% of the Items sold there are fakes.Say clothes,toys,appliances,gadgets....you name it,and expect that they have a Knock-off version of it! Divisoria isn't really a good place for foreigners and rich people though, they make huge targets for thieves, creepy beggars(that attack people!!) and higher prices! I have heard rumors though,if you can speak chinese, they might give you reeeaaallly low prices, lower than the lowered prices(which is pretty cheap actually).Anyways back to my story,we went to the famous 168 shopping mall to look for dolls(yes, dad supports my hobbies, even though im a guy).I was shocked to see huge swarms of people selling frozen dolls! I saw the exact same anna and elsa dolls I bought(and more) for half the price I bought them in Cavite. But it was ok,since I bought an articulated elsa for a low price(which I will review next) and 2 doll stands.

*EDIT : I broke one of the stands last week by trying to display a barbie doll with like,3 layers of clothes... :}

So here is my Anna doll! She is from the exact same company that made the knock-off elsa doll that I reviewed. She has the same box that elsa has, which is why I wouldn't put much detail in this review...

the other pics of the box views are from my elsa review, since it's literally the same box.

B-but this is Anna.....

Now here's the thing,if you have read the long-ish story up there, which im guessing you didn't,this was the last anna at the time I got her.I had no reason to complain much at the time but as soon as I got home I just realized that this doll's dress has rips on it...
It has rips on top and on the right black thing...(which I tried to fix,but failed)
De-boxing the doll was as easy as removing tape and 1 twist tie, which can save time and frustration.

Here's Anna fully de-boxed,She comes with a dress that isn't accurate to the movie and (previously) unpainted disney store boots ....and can stand on her own?!?!
WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?!?!
Apparently,Anna(and elsa) can stand alone in their boots,or any other hard doll shoes with heels. To do this though she has to slightly spread her legs and lean a little....I accidentally discovered this trick by playing with anna,I put her on the table(assuming she would fall),but to my surprise she was standing on her own. This was probably because most of her body parts are hollow(Head,Torso and Legs) making her lightweight. So the fact that she had a broken dress slowly doesn't bother me that much anymore because of this ability.

Another interesting thing about this doll is her hair.At first glance,it looks like plain red orange hair. But if you look closely,It actually has white strands of hair infused, which was also weird. My guess is that they were trying to go for anna's signature look that has one strand of hair, but ended up being all over the place.

Like with elsa,I decided to take off her braid to see what her rooting was like,It was pretty much like Elsa's except she has a middle part on her hair that makes her bald spots less obvious.Personally,I think Anna looks good with her hair down.

Merida is that you?

Anna : Ignore the above photo....

So here are blurry photos of her face and profile...sorry bout that...Basically,they just copied the disney store head mold of the dolls, the only differences I can see are that the eyes aren't as 3-d looking and the paint is different...but I like this anna! :)

Now we talk about her dress...like Elsa,This doll appears to wear a 1/6 scale version of the toysrus toddler doll dresses..which is weird.

Anyways, the dress is all in one piece. It has a transparent pink overskirt that sheds pink/purple glitter in various sizes. It has velcro closure. The bow is just for show but it can be untied, something that shouldn't be happening I think. Now the biggest problem about this dress is not the accuracy or the glitter. It's the blue underskirt. The fabric,no....the thing, feels like plastic/paper.I don't even think that thing is fabric. It makes crumpling noises when you try to touch it.It just feels really bad. Let's just say I am not using that dress on anna again.

I decided not to fully undress anna this time since I stained her body. It's from a nail polish accident.I can never remove it now.Speaking of bodies, anna has really pale skin, but next to elsa, anna looks pinkish.Anna also has 5 points of articulation like her doll sister, head can rotate, arms do their thing and the legs can spread enough to make her stand. Now the low number of articulation might bother some people, but it's pretty much the basic doll articulation needed
Now before I change her clothes, here are a few pics of anna in her "kids outfit".

OOAK TIME!!! now,I didn't really do anything fancy for her braid so I let it as is.I made anna's winter adventure outfit, cape and mittens(I could've made a hat but I ran out of pink fabric and Idon't know how to make one :P).I also painted the boots' raised details gold and stuff.

Hmmm....

Hi there!!!

This is my anna doll's hobby,Lying face down on the floor.

Sisters!

Signature pose!

Capes!
Final thoughts? I've decided not to do the recommend thing because I do not want to promote buying these things and supporting bootleggers.Instead I will just post pros and cons.

PROS:
*can stand alone
*cheap(sort of)
*more hair than bootleg elsa
*box is easy to open without destroying it
CONS:
*low quality clothing(rips and paper skirts)
*inaccurate clothes*no extra accessories
*few points of articulation

My final thoughts?personally she looks okay, she's reaally cute and I wouldn't mind if I had another anna in my house.I would recommend getting doll clothes first if you plan on buying it.The paper skirt is annoying, but the rest of the doll is ok.well maybe not quite in the hair department but you get the idea xD
thank you for viewing and have a nice day!
